This is a highly favored red leaved tree. Similar to the Eastern Redbud it has delicate magenta rose flowers that appear before the foliage in the spring. It does best in morning sun afternoon shade in Utah. It also has heart shaped leaves that emerge a deep purple fading to a bronze-green color towards the center.
